What do you think is the answer to the headline question in the context of your business and life?
I share a Mark Manson tweet that gives an insightful answer.
“The quickest way to mediocrity is to try to make everyone happy, all of the time.”
And who better than us to know this to be true.
Because when it comes to our industry/profession, we say yes to each and every person we come across. We even say yes to everything a client asks us to do. Thus, we end up with no specialization, too many clients and too much busywork while trying to keep everyone happy all the time. And needless to say, this leads to nothing but mediocrity.
While this may seem counterintuitive at first, it’s time you recognize this issue even if you are remotely interested in building a world class business.
We live in a world of To-Do’s. We all have a To-Do List and it is the biggest and the only list that we all have. However the first list to have is your To BE List.
