Webster defines feedback as “the transmission of evaluative or corrective information about an action, event, or process to the original or controlling source.” There are a couple more, but this is the main one. And as you know, most people don’t like feedback. Many achievers certainly don’t like feedback. They don’t like to take one or be given one. Because we look at feedback as something negative…one that says we need to fix something. Feedback is about fixing some problem…and how many of us like to admit that we have a problem to fix?
How about flipping feedback on its head?
This is not some mind trick…Even if it is, who cares because the stuff I am about to share works…This shift helps us to reframe our mindset and look at things differently…because feedforward is about deciding to be better at something…and if we decide to be better at something, we actively seek guidance from people who can help/guide us. This mindset shift can even get us to seek feedforward on areas we want to work on. And this is especially helpful for those who don’t like taking feedback or who put aside the feedback they get.
Am I making sense?
What do you think?
I would love to get your feedforward on making this blog super valuable to you.
